Senior Pastor
Dwaine and Mia Chapdelaine
Pastor Dwaine grew up in Pontiac, Michigan. He moved to the Kalamazoo area in 2002 to become Student Pastor at Cornerstone Church after marrying his wife Mia, a resident of Portage, Michigan. After 15 years working with students and their families, and alongside the late Bishop Rodney Clark, former pastor, Pastor Dwaine took on the role of Associate Pastor briefly before becoming the Lead Pastor in 2016. He also serves as a liaison in the Kalamazoo Homeschool Community and is the founder of Pray For Kalamazoo, a non-profit initiative for the advancement and betterment of our city, both spiritually and physically.
Mia serves as Worship Lead, Events Coordinator, Ladies Ministries Lead, and also, as a member of the Cornerstone Design Team. Pastor Dwaine and Mia love travel and memory making experiences with their 3 amazing children (Evan, Jaxon, and Reagan), serving others, and working to accomplish the Kingdom Mission in the Greater Kalamazoo area. Their passion is to be the disciples that Jesus is calling them to be so they can make disciples, leading others into an authentic, life-changing relationship with Him!
Executive Pastor
Kristofer and Jasper Hilliard
Pastor Kristofer and Jasper Hilliard serve as the Executive Pastors at Cornerstone Church. Their mission aligns wholeheartedly with the vision of Cornerstone; to be disciples who make disciples and through the supernatural work of Jesus experience multiplication.
Originally from the St. Louis area, Kristofer began his journey at Cornerstone in 2017. Since that time he has served in multiple leadership roles. He has taught Firm Foundations, served as Youth Pastor, and poured into the spiritual growth of the congregation.
Jasper eagerly became involved in ministry at Cornerstone soon after she and Kristofer married in 2024. Jasper serves in C-Kids, the Medical Response Team, the Worship Team, and anywhere there is a need.
Together, Kristofer and Jasper share a deep belief in the healing power of Jesus Christ — a conviction that extends into their professional lives in the medical field. Pastor Kristofer is currently a full-time medical student at Wayne State University in Detriot, MI and Jasper serves as a full-time Emergency Room Registered Nurse with Henry Ford Health.
Matthew 6:33 (KJV) says, “But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.” This scripture reflects the heart of the Hilliards as they seek first the Kingdom and faithfully serve wherever God calls.
Family Pastor
Steve and Gail Stoimenoff
Pastor Steve Stoimenoff and his wife, Gail, are Cornerstone Church’s Family Pastors. They serve our families as well as coordinating Life Groups across the city. Pastor Steve grew up in Battle Creek while Gail hails from suburban Detroit. He worked his way up in local and Detroit radio from advertising sales to station management and she attended college at WMU.
They fell in love with Kalamazoo, eventually making it their permanent residence after she completed nursing school. Pastor Steve enjoys music and played saxophone for Maynard Ferguson's Big Band, Gail loves all things chocolate.
They are passionate about people and families, loving them where they are in their journey, showing the love of Jesus, and speaking encouragement and hope through Him.
Student Pastor
Misael and Alicia Cruz
Pastor Misael and Alicia Cruz serve as the Student Pastors at Cornerstone Church, with a heart to see young people become disciples who make disciples. Their passion is to see students, Jr High through Young Adults, experience the transformative power of Jesus and step boldly into the calling He has placed on their lives.
Although new to Southwest Michigan, the two both grew up in the state, Alicia from Bay City and Misael from Pontiac. The pair met in 2021 while studying engineering at Michigan Technological University. After navigating a two-year, cross-country, long-distance relationship, they were married in June 2024. A career opportunity for Misael brought them Kalamazoo, where they quickly connected with the community at Cornerstone and found a place to grow and serve together.
Misael and Alicia are committed to being who Jesus has called them to be and walking alongside students as they grow in their faith. They firmly believe that there are great things in store for the Kalamazoo region, and they are honored to be a part of what He's doing through the next generation.
Children's Pastor
Bradley and Elaine Porter
Pastor Brad Porter and his wife, Elaine, serve as the Children’s Pastors at Cornerstone Church.
Both from the Kalamazoo area, Pastor Brad grew up at Cornerstone Church, Elaine became a part of the Cornerstone Family in 2018.
Pastor Brad is our resident juggler (even swords!) at special events.
They are passionate about Jesus, their three children (James, Marlowe, and Catherine), reading, seeing people transformed by the power of God, and even the youngest kids experiencing the love that Jesus has for them!
CKIDS
NURSERY & PRESCHOOL
Nursery, for infants and toddlers from 3 months through the age of 2 years old, and Preschool, for children aged 3 through when they start Kindergarten, are offered throughout the entire Cornerstone Sunday Morning Experience.
ELEMENTARY
CKids Elementary offers a full kids service in the Life Center during the Cornerstone Sunday Morning Experience. There are games, actions songs, puppet skits, a fully interactive bible story following by a kids altar call, and ending with time of fellowship around one table for snacks and a craft
The Kids Service begins and ends with relationship and focuses on introducing the kids to Jesus in a context they can understand.
CKids Midweek is also offered the 2nd and 3rd Wednesday of the month for kids from both Preschool and Elementary as a chance to deeper understand the principles and stories of the Bible and how it applies to their lives.
ELEVATE STUDENT MINISTRIES
Students gather on the 2nd and 3rd Wednesdays at 7PM for Elevate Nights in the Life Center.
These student-led services include worship, message, and an opportunity for students to respond.
Elevate Nights create an impactful time of fellowship, connection, and spiritual growth!
