The core beliefs of Cornerstone Church are based on the foundational truths taught in the Bible.  
All of our teaching and ministry is rooted in and flows out of these Biblical Doctrines.

God
We believe there is only one God, who revealed Himself to humanity in the man Christ Jesus.

Deuteronomy 6:4; 1 Timothy 3:16; John 14:9

Salvation
We believe salvation is only found in Jesus Christ and is appropriated to humanity by God's grace through the New Testament new-birth experience.

Acts 4:12; Ephesians 2:8; John 3:3-7

Water Baptism
We believe the new-birth experience is comprised of repentance, water baptism by full immersion in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ, and the infilling of the Holy Spirit. This is the New Testament pattern for all believers to follow as a result of their faith in Christ.

Holy Spirit
We believe when someone receives the baptism of the Holy Spirit, that person will speak with other tongues under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit.

Christian Living
We believe disciples of Christ are called to live a holy, pure life before God and all humanity.

The Future
We believe the church will be raptured by Christ prior to the great tribulation and will exist with Him forever in eternity.

Healings, Signs, and Miracles
We believe God's power is still active in the church and healings, signs, and miracles are available to God's people through faith in Jesus Christ.

Pastor Dwaine grew up in Pontiac, Michigan. He moved to the Kalamazoo area in 2002 to become Student Pastor at Cornerstone Church after marrying his wife Mia, a resident of Portage, Michigan. After 15 years working with students and their families, and alongside the late Bishop Rodney Clark, former pastor, Pastor Dwaine took on the role of Associate Pastor briefly before becoming the Lead Pastor in 2016. He also serves as a liaison in the Kalamazoo Homeschool Community and is the founder of Pray For Kalamazoo, a non-profit initiative for the advancement and betterment of our city, both spiritually and physically. 

Mia serves as Worship Lead, Events Coordinator, Ladies Ministries Lead, and also, as a member of the Cornerstone Design Team. Pastor Dwaine and Mia love travel and memory making experiences with their 3 amazing children (Evan, Jaxon, and Reagan), serving others, and working to accomplish the Kingdom Mission in the Greater Kalamazoo area. Their passion is to be the disciples that Jesus is calling them to be so they can make disciples, leading others into an authentic, life-changing relationship with Him! 

Pastor Steve Stoimenoff and his wife, Gail, are Cornerstone Church’s Family Pastors. They serve our families as well as coordinating Life Groups across the city. Pastor Steve grew up in Battle Creek while Gail hails from suburban Detroit. He worked his way up in local and Detroit radio from advertising sales to station management and she attended college at WMU. 

They fell in love with Kalamazoo, eventually making it their permanent residence after she completed nursing school. Pastor Steve enjoys music and played saxophone for Maynard Ferguson's Big Band, Gail loves all things chocolate. 

They are passionate about people and families, loving them where they are in their journey, showing the love of Jesus, and speaking encouragement and hope through Him.

Pastor Kristofer Hilliard is the Youth Pastor at Cornerstone Church. He was born and raised just outside St. Louis, Missouri. 

In 2017, he relocated to Kalamazoo, Michigan to pursue his educational goals of becoming an Anesthesiologist and quickly became an integral part of the Cornerstone Team. 

In 2011, he began to pursue his love of traveling and has been to 31 countries since. 

Pastor Kristofer leads, teaches, mentors, and disciples students (ages 12-18) in spiritual growth and development. His passion is positioning Cornerstone to be the 21st century revival church that God can use to bless this region!

Pastor Brad Porter and his wife, Elaine, serve as the Children’s Pastors at Cornerstone Church. 

Both from the Kalamazoo area, Pastor Brad grew up at Cornerstone Church, Elaine became a part of the Cornerstone Family in 2018. 

Pastor Brad is our resident juggler (even swords!) at special events. 

They are passionate about Jesus, their two children (James and Marlowe), reading, seeing people transformed by the power of God, and even the youngest kids experiencing the love that Jesus has for them!

Students can join one of two classes during Christian Education each Sunday. Jr. High class is  available for 6th through 8th graders, and our Sr. High class is available for 9th through 12th graders.

Every other Sunday night, our students meet together at 6pm for a powerful time of worship and  preaching.  

Each 2nd Wednesday of the month, our Elevate students and our Youth Pastor lead our  Wednesday night experience with worship, prayer, and preaching.  

Elevate HangOuts, are events where our youth have an opportunity to get to know one another  and socialize. Activities vary each month, but food and fun are always a given!

Our students love to serve our community together. They have Serve Opportunities each month  that allow them to show others how Jesus is changing what they care about!
